Early Years Foundation Stage.
Miss Milborrow loves leading the Early Years because there is a true magic in being a part of a child’s development at the very starting point of their school life. The Reception year has a brilliant balance of nurture, curiosity and impressive leaps of progress in learning. The Early Years Team are well qualified and experienced. The class teachers are Miss Milborrow and Mrs Rand, their TAs Mrs Thornton and Mrs Santer have worked within our team for over 5 years.

Our EYFS curriculum:
All strands of the EYFS curriculum are taught through termly themes. These themes are carefully planned each year and are responsive to the children’s needs and interests. Children have English, Maths, Guided Reading and Phonics lessons every day. At the beginning of the Reception year, the English and Maths lessons are taught through short teacher inputs and followed up during CIA (child initiated activities). In the Summer terms, English and Maths is gradually taught more formally, helping the children to prepare for Year 1.
A large portion of our days are spent in our outdoor area. This area has been specifically designed and resourced to promote all areas of the EYFS curriculum. Children are able to choose and set up their own resources, as well as being inspired by some teacher-led activities. Adults encourage, teach and lead communication and interaction skills, by modelling language, using open-ended questions, and posing challenges.
